I spent lastnight browsing dA like the good ol' days. It was awesome.

Manifest was huge. Half my photos are here: [link] and I haven't uploaded the rest (i'm using a public computer and I left my HD with the rest at home so bleh.

I was so wired all weekend. A solid week of making giant Pokemon suits and heads took it out of me. And what's more, everyone in the house and all our guests were just as tired; you can imagine the grumpiness of seven people combined. And in the end it wasn't worth it. I loved my past two Manifests, even though there was some last minute cosplay-making, because for the most part it seemed fun. This year the volume of cosplays we had to make made it all seem like a chore. Well, never again.

Actually, that's one thing I wish I had had time for; a Manifest skit for the Pokemon group. We had ideas but with half the costumes not made with a week to go, there simply wasn't the time.

My hobbies are going back to being hobbies, not my life. I love making cosplay but the pressure of making more than just my own made me selfish again. I'm going back to spending only my spare time cosplay-making, in my own time, for my own wishes and not for groups. I really want to make an Ammy fursuit for my next project and I doubt I can do that in time even for Manifest next year, by how intricate some of that work will be and expensive fur is, so I'm planning on not making any new cosplay til I finish that, and not worrying about finishing Ammy by any particular con. When it's done it's done and I'll enter contests from there on.

And another thing that came out of my Manifest-stress, was a mental breakdown, which I traced to a source of financial stress. I can't afford my rent, bills, food. My housemates, luckily, can usually help but paying them back whenever I get a windfall just puts me back at the start. So in short I decided that if by the end of the month I haven't gotten a better job here I'm moving back to my parents and working there to save up some backup cash and look for something I actually want to do. Upsides: My cat and dog, internet (limited but nonetheless), can buy clothes etc. Downsides: No PS3, less games, manual car (ACK), family arguments. But in the end I'll be happier if I can afford my share. Money stinks.

Anyway yay ranting. I'm gonna find out my Pokemon friend code, I want things. :3

I'm soooooooooooo tired. Sewing, making heads, making props, suits, I just can't wait for Manifest but I just can't wait for it to be over and to have a whole year to think about our next major project.

Vermin's (finally updated!) Journal D=

I've been inactive on DA for about 6 months straight. More if you go by the journal I last posted rather than the lazy "let's post a months old photo from Amaranth!" deviation.

Just so everyone knows, I'm still alive and I'm not ignoring your comments and front page posts. I haven't had internet in my house since January. Since the move. The second one.

The story is, the lease on the house I was living in with my housemates (~LittleCrane, ~pokebug and ~3vilmidg3t) expired and because we hated the place we moved. The new place is awesome, it's 2 storeys with pool at only $5 a week more than the old place which was a box with a tiny bathroom and destroyed walls. But because my job is still as stingy with the hours as before, I'm still incredibly tight on the rent and bills and food department. I've been looking for a new job but so far no luck (I'm hoping the midyear stocktake sales get me a job, I've applied for so many game shops it's not funny lol) and until I can afford the extra bills of phone and internet we're not getting them.

It's been really depressing for someone as internet-dependant as me to live without it but's it's been a good motivation. The thought of the 150gb we could end up with once I'm properly employed makes me get up and get moving (and, I'd like to actually have some money to spend occassionally; all my jeans have been mended more than once and I need new glasses, not to mention the new lappy I need seeing as reliable old Sephi is showing his age now).

Long story short, pretty much all my internet time is internet banking or jobsearching. I do go on HeruNovus a bit because I love my staffy dudes there (even if I'm being a non-staff artist till I get my home nets situation sorted) and I do scout around dA occassionally, but I rarely sign in.

Anyway, Manifest prep has been taking up my recent time. This year my best cosplay is super-secret but trust me, it's going to be hilarious on Saturday. I've also been working on a new T-shirt design for this year's comp; I am much less confident this year which is entirely weird seeing as my design is about a million bajillion times better. The finish date is looming and even though I've submitted my best entry already, I need to try finish another design I have in mind, even if it is basically the upgraded version of last year's... I liked the concept of last year's though. I might post my finished designs again but I prefer to wait till the contest's over; on the slight chance I do win I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise (assuming the winner announcing thing goes down the same way again).

And one more art-wise development; I have a few more (permanent!) characters worked up. Verxe is one of them; I've decided that 1. I miss Vermy and 2. I like Verxe as a standalone character. So scratch that whole fursie-changin plan I had, Vermin is the only fursona for me. She suits me so perfectly in every way and who can argue with that? Anyway hopefully Slee, Syrren and Verxe will actually persist cus I love them; finally I have more than just the four!

Anyway, my laptop's about to die, I'm using a free wifi connection (as you do). Peace ouy my loves, hope to be in more frequent contact soon!

Heh heh heh...
~LittleCrane has been really naughty.
She decided yesterday that we'd take a trip to Harvey Norman and look at TVs. I wasn't certain she meant "let's buy a new TV today" but that was what she meant it seems.
So we now have a nice, biggish LCD TV sitting on our lounge room floor connected to all her other expensive things, like the George Foreman Grill and the Wii.

Oh, and in moving the old TV, we found my old PS2 memory card (I knew I'd find it just after I bought a new one >.< so I celebrated just now by finishing KH2 on this big, pretty new TV. *drools a bit* Ahh, so very pretty.

Actually in the same vein, I was having this really bad day a few days ago, and so just to run with that my MP3 player I've had for like 4 years packed it in on my way to work. So as soon as I got outta work I bought a new one. Yay retail therapy. The girl in JB was really nice, she gave me a free silicon cover thing too. It's pretty, and seeing as it has built in speakers it's awesome at work, after we close I listen to music. x3

I have a severe terminal artblock right now, except for drawing Verxe and Vixremn. So I'm hoping once I get the new ID pic done I will have recovered. Please? I have things I want to draw!

Ehehe, oh yes, ~3vilmidg3t is awesome and bought the Orange Box so I guess I can play some real games now (instead of my usual fare of JRPGs? O_O!). Oh but first I want to try and finish Crisis Core even though I know I'm not gonna like what happens after I kill the giant Genesis monstarrr thingy.

Seriously though, who had the idea of making a prequel where you play as a character you already know is going to die? It was so unsatisfying beating Sephiroth in that game despite how long it took for me to do it because right after beating him twice he's still totally fine, you're the one who's beaten up, and then he stabs you and Cloud has to "finish" him (also after being stabbed?). And now, I'm at the very end, just have to beat Genesis up a couple more times, and then guess what? YOU DIE AT THE END LOLSWTF. Not coool.

Though the pretty mock battle between Angeal, Genesis and Sephiroth was very pretty and sparkly. Shame Angeal isn't a bishie. xD
